Erosion of Knapsack Creek

Due to developments upstream, water flows in the creek through the reserve tend to be greater and more sudden after rain. This resulted in erosion along the creek.

Expert Opinion

Advice was sought and it was recommended that rock fills at critical points could reduce the suddenness of the flows.

Funding

Funds were sought and a grant was received from the Australian Government Envirofund via the Australian Heritage Trust. These funds were used to get a contractor, experienced in this kind of work, to install the rock fills.

APS Blue Mountains Group Contribution

The group contributed to the rehabilitation works by making suitable plantings along the creek.

Results

The work was completed over 12 months ago and the improvement in the situation along the creek can now be seen.
